WHY ANTI FASHION WEEK?

It all began with realizing that there is a void in the fashion industry.

The fashion industry has become one of the biggest contributors to waste, exploitation and environmental issues around the globe. Over producing, and over consuming to keep up with short lived trends and competitive low costs have transformed the way fashion is supposed to be.

Fashion is Art. It is Self Expression. It is Craftsmanship.

WHAT IS SLOW FASHION?

Slow Fashion is a term used to describe ethical and eco-conscious fashion, it is the opposite of Fast Fashion, a term used to describe the overconsumption, and overproduction of high quantities.

Here a few key notes how to identify Slow Fashion Brands:

  • It encourages people to buy less, but higher quality

  • It does not participate in seasonal trends, but rather creates timeless pieces

  • It has a small selection of different designs

  • It uses ethical labor, and it is transparent about it

  • It uses eco-friendly fabrics, mainly natural fibers

  • It uses high quality materials so that the clothes last longer

WHY SUPPORT SUSTAINABLE BRANDS?

Sustainability is nothing new. Many businesses and people have been living eco-consciously for decades. Only now it seems to become a “trend”. Sustainability is not a trend, it is a choice and it is a necessary one to make. The effects of the fast fashion industry are not talked about enough, and we want to change that.

The difference you can make with choosing sustainable and ethical brands over fast fashion brands:

  • Reduce waste by consuming less

  • Support ethical labor for garment workers across the world

  • Support the fight against the climate crisis

  • Support small business and brands with transparent supply chains

  • Reduce microplastics by choosing natural fabrics

OUR MISSION
